Thursday marked a busy night at The Miami Beach EDITION during Art Basel Miami Beach. In keeping with EDITION’s very own Stay Plastic Free initiative to remove all single use plastics from the hospitality industry, EDITION partnered with Lonely Whale on their own Museum of Plastic pop up exhibition based in the hotel’s vast forum space. The Museum of Plastic, open through the weekend, features The Ocean Voyage room representing an ocean flourishing with fish, crustaceans, coral and plants. As the space continues, more plastic is introduced, illustrating the reality that the ocean could have more plastic than fish by weight by the year 2050. To mark the opening of the Museum of Plastic, EDITION and Lonely Whale hosted a special panel with a diverse group of environmentalists from different industries. Speakers included the EDITION’s very own Ben Pundole, also founder of Stay Plastic Free, Heron Preston, fashion designer and DJ, Mayor of Miami Beach Dan Gelber and Young Hero Founder Roberto Max Salas and Lonely Whale’s Emma Riley.
